WORKPLACE VIOLENCE

Systematic processes and threat assessment bring measurable results to preventing workplace violence.

American society has grown accustomed to weekly news reporting an incident of violent workplace violence. While the causes of workplace violence vary, it can be prevented. Each year, there are approximately two million workers that fall victim to non-fatal workplace violence. Even more astonishing, is that an additional 1,000 people are killed each year at work. Workplace violence is committed by a variety of people and situations that include:

  • Disgruntled employees

  • Unhappy customers

  • Former co-workers or disgruntled co-workers

  • Robberies and other crimes

  • Domestic violence incidents that are brought to  the workplace

One step organizations can take is to consider hiring specialized investigators who are experienced in going beyond typical background checks.  Corporations have found misplaced solace in assuming that an individual is harmless if they do not exhibit any criminal history from a standard background check.  Unfortunately, typical criminal background checks don’t scrape federal databases or other states’ databases and are isolated to an individual state or two.  More importantly, background checks don’t identify harmful behaviors or potential psychological issues. Dominion XP’s investigative team goes the extra step in performing more in-depth investigations and services that mitigate the risks associated with workplace violence.  Our leadership has extensive backgrounds in intelligence gathering with the US military and other federal law enforcement organizations. Examples of additional services include:

  • Investigations of sexual harassment

  • Investigations of violent or intimidating behavior

  • Investigations of a customer act of violence or intimidation of employees

  • Investigations of claims of violence against clients or customers

  • Use of undercover investigations to ferret out employees that are abusive verbally and physically

  • Monitoring and investigating open-source platform intelligence, i.e., social media and public posting sites

  • Conduct training sessions for employees that help them prevent, identify, intervene, and avoid workplace violence.

If it is determined that there is a viable, imminent threat of workplace violence, Dominion XP’s licensed executive protection team steps in to provide the necessary security to protection required to maintain a safe environment for our clients.
